This is an implementation of the UC Davis/Gubler-Thomas grape powdery mildew model. Beginning in 2001, we began testing the online model in Hood River (Bob Spotts, MCAREC). The model is used starting at bloom or when the first colony is found.

The model is based on the accumulation of risk index points during times of sufficient leaf wetness and temperature. The risk index has three classes: low (0-20), intermediate (30-50), and high (60-100). The fungicide spray schedule will depend upon the current risk class, as determined by weather data. The daily risk index (PMRI today) varies from -10 to +20. The cumulative risk index (PMRI cumulative) varies from 0 to 100, and is not allowed to fall below or above this range.

The primary reference for this model is:
Gubler, unpublished. Grape Powdery Mildew Forecasting. UC Davis.
